Who is worthy?

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. – Revelation 4.11

The angels and others we see in heaven have a constant theme throughout the book of Revelation. They constantly speak of the worthiness of Christ.

This gave me pause to stop and consider what it worthy of my glorifying and my honouring and worthy of my strength and power. Only Christ is truly worthy – but what do I see as worthy?

We all show what we think is worthy by our actions and attitudes and what is worthy of our time and effort. We show what is worthy by what we do because we generally do whatever is important to us.

For some of us money and wealth and things are worthy of our time and effort. We spend all of our time and effort in the support of more.

For some it is sports or entertainment. We make sure that we have time for our favourite match or programme or show. Nothing gets in the way.

For some it is simple pride – we are not going to do anything that would make us look bad or hurt our popularity.

So who or what is really worthy of our glorying in? Who is worthy of our honouring? Who is worthy of our strength?

God and God alone. Are we giving Him His due?
